How to Enter

Submissions -- Each club member can submit eight images per competition, up to two may be entered in the assigned category, and up to two may be entered in the open category for both the Authentic and Altered Reality divisions.

Critiques --  The competition committee feels like some of the best learning from competitions can come from critiques.  We'd encourage anyone who would like to participate in critiques to please say that they'd like their image(s) critiqued.

Phone Number -- If you don't check your email often (or if you're submitting your images close to the deadline), it would be very helpful to send a phone number where I can reach you in case I have questions.

Membership-- Competitions are for current paid members.

All Competition entries should be sent to competition@wasatchcameraclub.com

Print Entries:

Due to the steep decline of print entries in the recent year, prints have been discontinued as of April 2010.

Submission Specifications for Digital Images

Digital images should be in .jpg format at a maximum size of 1024x768 pixels.

The amount of .jpg compression is the photographer's choice, but a .jpg at 100% is about 4 times the file size of the same .jpg at 60%, so keep this in mind as your images may be e-mailed. You might want to make a couple of different versions to compare quality at different compressions.

If your images are not exactly 1024x768, that's fine, but don't exceed those dimensions. Always consider how your image looks best and has the most impact. It will be projected on screen so it will always look bigger and (hopefully) more impressive than what you see on your monitor.

Full size 1024x768 (reduced to 25%).....

768 tall & narrow

1024 wide & short

The requested format for Competition is: member name-image title-category-level-critque.jpg, as in  JohnSmith-DeadTree-Assigned-Authentic-Novice-Critique.jpg. For categories use the following: Open-Authentic, Open-Altered, Assigned-Authentic, Assigned-Altered. The current levels are Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Master. If you do not wish your image to be critiqued, indicate that with NoCritique. Please do NOT place a watermark on your images.

When sending images via e-mail please put "WCC Competition Submission" in the subject line of your e-mail and note the titles of the images, your name and your level in the body of the e-mail.
