The North Rim, Grand Canyon Trip is Now Open

Join us August 4-6, 2017 for some stormy skies, water carved canyons, and breathtaking vistas.  Just like last year, we’ll hit the North Rim in peak monsoon season, yielding dramatic photo opportunities.  We’ll photograph sunrises and sunsets at some of the best overlooks, and take advantage of daytime shooting.  No hiking is planned, but it is likely that some will want to venture out onto the trails.

The club has reserved a group campsite at the North Rim campground, which can accommodate 25 campers.  Bring a tent and a sleeping bag, and you’re all set. The campground has nearby toilets and shower facilities, along with a general store, a restaurant, and a saloon.  For more information on the campground, visit https://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/cg-nr.htm. All food and travel are on your own and carpooling is encouraged.

Following this portion of the trip, we can take up to 10 people to a backcountry location for two nights (August 6 & 7).  You must have a high clearance 4WD vehicle, pack your own gear (tent, bag, food, cooking equipment) in order to attend this portion of the trip.   You may register for this portion without registering for the first portion, but priority will be given to members who attend the first portion.

Registration will stay open through July 8, at which time you’ll be required to pay your nonrefundable $50 registration fee.   If you have any questions about this trip, please contact Claudia O’Grady.

Note: We require registration fees to ensure slots are used by everyone who enters. Past experience has shown last minute drop outs leave slots that could have gone to others, but on short notice can't change their plans.
