Understanding the Visual Language of Photography

“We can communicate things in our images that venture beyond what a subject or scene looks like, and that are not always expressible in spoken or written words.”

- Guy Tal

In this special presentation Guy goes way beyond simplistic rules of composition, and reviews some of the science of visual perception, thoughts from great artists on visual expression, and techniques for becoming more effective visual communicators.

Guy Tal is professional artist, author, photographer, educator and public speaker. He works primarily in the landscape of the high deserts of the Colorado Plateau. He does not consider himself a photographer who creates art, but rather an artist working in the medium of photography. His work has been featured in Outdoor Photographer, Popular Photography, PhotoOp 16 and Digital Photographer magazines, among many others.

Recently, he has published The Landscape Photographer's Guide to Photoshop which will be available at his presentation.
